Harris Arts Festival Events

The main Festival
is held early in August but there
are weekly events held in the Harris Hotel function room, Taigh
mo Sheanar. Here you can relax in the evening and listen to
stories of Harris and the offshore islands including St Kilda.
You can hear the true traditional songs of the islands and see
slides of the magnificent scenery of Harris.
At times during the
summer the craftspeople of Harris hold evenings where they
display their skills in the making of Harris Tweed accompanied
by the songs associated with the making of Tweed.

Inner
Sound, a vocal group made up of pupils, who, in conjunction with
some of Ann Lampard's prior, and now professional pupils,
perform and tour with a fully staged and costumed Gilbert and
Sullivan opera.

Hebridean
Celtic Festival 2009
Other events are hosted
for the Hebridean Celtic Festival in July 2009.
This year Norrie MacIver, Sineag MacIntyre and James MacKenzie
will perform on Thursday 16th July at
Seallam! in Northton in the southern end of Harris. This facility
features a year round exhibition on the history and natural
environment of the Hebrides, The Emigrants and St Kilda, as well as fine
Hebridean books and music. Catering for up to 60 people this is
a lovely small venue in one of the most scenic areas of the
islands.
